Private Revelation

The final Authority on Private Revelation is the Magisterium, who've been gifted by Christ the charism of discernment of spirits. If the Magisterium judges against an alleged private revelation, it should be discarded immediately. If still undecided, prudence and caution should be observed.

Pope Urban VIII stated: "In cases which concern private revelations, it is better to believe than not to believe, for, if you believe, and it is proven true, you will be happy that you have believed, because our Holy Mother asked it. If you believe, and it should be proven false, you will receive all blessings as if it had been true, because you believed it to be true."

Prudence suggests you always notify your audience if the private revelation of discussion is not yet approved (ie.no decision yet made).

It is not against Church teachings to meditate on private revelations not yet approved, provided they do not contradict official Church doctrine on faith and morals or the current Code of Canon Law.
